The planetary energies during the month of February continue to be intense. We may feel edgy or like a volcano about to erupt. We may feel like we are being pressurized to make an important choice that will redirect our lives. Whatever our personal situation, we are in the midst of a recalibration period where our body and psyche are adjusting to a profound shift in consciousness. The old normal is over. We are waking up to an expanded reality.
When we get to Aquarius, the eleventh sign of the zodiac, we need to figure out or refine how our personal contribution fits into and serves the collective. The planetary activity in February supports us in answering the question – What does my soul really want from my personal incarnation this lifetime?
Venus-Mars conjunction in Capricorn
The highlight of the month is the Venus-Mars conjunction in Capricorn. The planetary representatives of the two polarities of our soul are ready to be integrated into our consciousness. They move in close tandem through the sky for the entire month, which is unusually long.
Venus, still moving slow after being retrograde, will gradually speed up to catch up with Mars. The two lovers will be at the same degree for a record of two weeks!
Their first exact conjunction is on February 16th. The second is on March 6 at 0° Aquarius. Venus retrograde has opened our hearts to ourselves, uncovering and defining our sense of purpose and mission. Determined and confident, Mars is ready to support us in making things happen. Our hearts awaken to the impulse to take action and to be more engaged in life.
Pluto Is a Key Player
When we think of Venus and Mars together, we often think of romance. Add Pluto as our chaperon and the glitter disappears. It is not that Pluto wants to spoil our fun, but as the planet of higher truth, Pluto insists on real, authentic, and honest intimacy. Our intentions must be crystal clear. Our motivations must be pure. Our plans must be an expression of what our soul wants, not what our wounded ego believes will save us and make us feel secure. This is not an encounter for the faint of heart or fantasy seekers.
Venus, Mars, Pluto, Vesta, and the Moon In Capricorn
We may feel that reality has ganged up on us on February 26th-27th, when asteroid Vesta and the Moon join the Venus-Mars-Pluto conjunction for a transformational encounter. Relax –this can be a good thing.
The Moon represents our unconscious, subconscious, and feeling sensitivity. Vesta, keeper of the eternal sacred flame, reminds us that our human needs and wants are also sacred. Our body is the sacred vessel of our soul and the home of the divine fire that keeps us alive, animated, and burning with the desire to feel the ecstasy of the eternal while embodied.
Venus, Mars, Pluto, Vesta and the Moon coming together is a process of soul purification that makes it possible for our true essence to shine through. Things will become crystal clear. We will know what we truly want. And we will be engaged participants in making things happen.
We may be surprised at what is revealed. What we discover bubbles up from deep within our psyche and our unconscious. It is interesting to note that the Sun, which symbolizes what is visible and acknowledged, is not part of the stellium. The Venus-Mars-Pluto-Vesta-Moon conjunction speaks to our humanity, to our wants and desires that we often suppress and don’t bring to our conscious awareness.
Everything happens before dawn. We may even see Venus and Mars kiss in the morning sky.
This dramatic and profound affair lasts the whole month of February. The following planetary movements lead up to this critical conjunction.
February 1-2 – New Moon in Aquarius at 12°
9:46 PM PST (utc-8)
Welcome to the Chinese New Year of the Tiger.
The New Moon is conjunct Saturn and square Uranus, reminding us that we still have to deal with the issues brought to the forefront in 2021. No, the pandemic is not going to magically go away, but we will become more aware of what is really going on. Suppressed information cannot be hidden forever.
The good news is that this is the last lunation featuring the Saturn-Uranus square. After March we will have much friendlier energies to work with.
February 3-4 – Mercury Goes Direct
8:13 PM PST (utc-8)
After Mercury goes direct at 24° Capricorn, all planets will be in direct motion until April 29, when Pluto goes retrograde. However, Mercury changes direction close to Pluto, which can be challenging both mentally and emotionally. It also heightens our sensitivity making it easier to feel the energy in our body and listen to its messages. You may receive some valuable insights at this time or shortly afterwards.
Mercury going direct is going to release feelings of stuckness and help us move forward. To do so, it is important to glean valuable information from Pluto ’s scrutiny. We want to be heading in the right direction and be guided by our hearts.
February 5th, 2022 – Sun Conjuncts Saturn
On February 5, the Sun is conjunct Saturn at 15° Aquarius. Saturn obliges us to be realistic, serious, and sure about what we are committing to.
Conjunctions are also new beginnings. Every year there is one Sun-Saturn conjunction, which is our yearly opportunity to birth or reinvent a project that is important to us, which by Saturn’s criteria will involve commitment and hard work. All the effort required is grit for honing our life-long process of self-mastery.
February 6 – Mars Squares Chiron
Mars in Capricorn squaring Chiron in Aries delivers more intense energy. Our insecurities may be triggered. We made have self-doubts, feel inadequate, and be challenged to assert ourselves. This is an opportunity to listen to our heart instead of our head. We have had practice with Venus retrograde and our 40 day Self-Love Reset. With unconditional compassion for ourselves, we can release ourselves from wounded conditioning.
February 11 – Mercury Conjunct Pluto at 27° Capricorn
6:04 AM PST (utc-8)
Here comes Pluto again. Actually Pluto is always hanging around. This time Pluto lines up with Mercury, obliging us to tell ourselves our truth. The energy of this meeting has been building up for several weeks. This is the final Mercury-Pluto conjunction, which offers us much-needed resolution and clarity. We may experience an empowering revelation, which can be specific. Or we may come to a realization that we must surrender to a higher truth that we have tried to avoid. Freedom is the prize because we are now willing to let go of something or a situation that ensnarled our emotions and consumed our energy for way too long.
February 14 – Mercury Re-enters Aquarius
1:54 PM PST (utc-8)
Just in time for Valentines Day, Mercury re-enters Aquarius. Delays or setbacks that we may have experienced while Venus and Mercury were retrograde may now disappear so we can move forward. In retrospect we can see why we had to wait (and do more ground work to prepare for) the resolution and clarity that is now available.
February 16 – Venus Conjunct Mars in Capricorn at 16°
6:29 AM PST (utc-8)
Taking advantage of the full moon in passionate Leo, Venus conjunct Mars at 16° Capricorn is the climax of the journey that this pair has taken together. Although they will continue to hold hands for a few more weeks, something happens, lines up, or clicks at their exact meeting.
Pay attention at the conjunction to events, insights, or opportunities and what they may trigger inside you. Especially pay attention to your feelings, heart, and intuition. You may become aware of a mystery that now makes sense. Something important is being revealed. Your ability and desire to commit to this truth is activated.
February 16 – Full Moon in Leo
8:56 AM PST (utc-8)
The Full Moon at 27° Leo is quincunx Pluto, who invites us to release what is no longer vital, to commit to opening our hearts to ourselves, and to dedicate our energy to expressing our unique gifts and talents.
February 18th, 2022 – Sun Enters Pisces
8:43 AM PST (utc-8)
On February 18 the Sun enters Pisces. Pisces invites us to relax into our being and enjoy being alive. A new astrological year is just a month away. ‘Let go and let God’ and enjoy not being in control for a few weeks.
February 26th-27th, 2022 – Capricorn Stellium
This is the big day when the Moon, Venus, Mars, Vesta, and Pluto form an intense, passionate stellium-conjunction in Capricorn. Mars and Venus are exact again at 23° and Pluto is at 27°.
This encounter is so power packed that transformation is inevitable. We may not feel like the same person after this encounter with our soul.
If you have planets or angles between 23 and 28 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra, this energy will be even more intensified for you because the angles are an opposition for Cancer and squares for Aries and Libra.
Kundalini Yoga – Exercise to Fortify Your Nervous System
Triangle Pose on Fingertips
It may sound like good advise to relax, go with the flow, and stay tuned to how you feel. The problem is that this is hard to do with all the intense energies, which bombard our nervous system. I have been incorporating triangle pose on my fingertips into my morning Sadhana and in my evening routine before I go to bed. In the afternoon between 4 and 5 or before dinner is also to great time to refresh from a stressful day.
On the fingertips is the most powerful position for strengthening the nervous system. Stay on our fingertips as long as possible and then return your palms to the floor as needed. Your fingers will get stronger. Continue 3-5 minutes. Do at least 2 times a day. The following instructions are on page 196 in The Gift of Womanhood. (also available as an eBook).
Strengthening the Nervous System
Triangle Pose: Stand with feet about hip-width apart and bend over, placing the palms flat on the floor, 3-4 feet from the toes, about shoulder width apart, forming a triangle with buttocks at the apex. Stretch the body straight from heels to buttocks and from buttocks to wrists (no bending at knees, shoulders, or elbows), allowing head and neck to relax in a line with the hips. Relax in this position with long deep breathing for 2-5 minutes (deep breathing helps eliminate discomfort). To end, inhale deeply, hold for 10 seconds, exhale, and relax in a comfortable position with the spine straight, still aware of the breathing and eyes closed to heighten inner attention.
This exercise strengthens and revitalizes the nervous system, aids digestion, and gives you extra energy. You will be surprised at the difference in how you feel if you do it every day for several weeks. It is also good for when one is short tempered or impatient. It relaxes most of the major muscles, is an outlet for frustration, and builds patience. This is great for the office — just close the door and be revitalized in just 5 minutes.
