My new series of workshops LEVEL DEEP – Power and Beauty from the Inside Out is designed to prepare us for the Aquarian Age. We can thrive in this chaotic time of intense change IF we wake up and learn to operate from our soul consciousness. The higher frequency energies that are infusing the planet can either throw us off balance or energize and uplift us. When we raise our frequency, we can adapt to, operate from, and flow with the heart energies. Nothing is more powerful or necessary at this time than aligning with the universal flow!
The third workshop in this monthly series is
The CORE Magic of Kundalini Yoga – February 5 10-12 PM PST (utc-8)
You can watch the class live or later with an HD streaming video recording to which you will have unlimited access. This will be available about one week after the Zoom event.
In this DEEP workshop, I share how to use the locks/bhandas to activate your spine as the core center of your awakened consciousness. I have become aware that what we were initially taught about the locks was limited, and in some ways inaccurate and ineffective. I teach you how to access a deeper level of subtle awareness to awaken your Kundalini and embody consciousness.
DID YOU KNOW that the application of the locks is different for men and women, because the very nature of our sexuality and how it relates to awakening are different? Thus there are nuances in how men and women apply the locks. All teachers and practitioners of Kundalini Yoga (and Hatha Yoga) need this information!
Please share this critically important workshop with your friends, students, and social media groups. Thank you.

Aquarius – A New Year and a New Life
2023 is going to be a year of deep transformation in both our inner and outer worlds. Our lives may change direction in ways that we do not expect and cannot predict. It is already starting to feel like the new year is ushering in a new life.
We finally have more clarity and energy to move forward. Mars went direct January 12 after 2 ½ months retrograde. Mercury went direct January 18. Of course, there are many forces operating at the same time. The Sun meeting Pluto in Capricorn on January 18 reminds us of our on-going journey to access our inner soul powers and potential, which make it possible to create a fulfilling and contributory life.
We will experience big shifts in 2023 because Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter all change signs. In 2022 just Jupiter changed signs, and it changes signs every 13 months. Pluto changes signs only every 16-20 years. Saturn changes signs every 2 ½ years.
Understanding the energies and messages of the major planetary players can help us adapt and synchronize with the cosmic forces, seizing opportunities as they arise.
The Most Impactful Planetary Shifts in 2023
- March 8 – Saturn enters Pisces
- March 23 – Pluto enters Aquarius
- May 16 – Jupiter enters Taurus
Pluto In Aquarius 2023-2043
Pluto moving into Aquarius is the most important transit of the year. For those with planets or angles in Aquarius, this is one of the most important transits of your life. The impact on the planets and the houses in your birth chart with an Aquarius signature will be dramatic.
Pluto will be in Aquarius for only 3 months in 2023. March 24 it moves back into Capricorn until 21 January 2024. Coming up is a taste of how Pluto will pressurize us to transform from the inside out in the next 20 years of our lives.
Pluto is the planet of systemic change. A major goal of Pluto in Aquarius is to transform social, economic, and political systems from the top down hierarchical power and control to bottom up popular people power and control. This doesn’t mean that this will happen all at once, but this is Pluto’s intention, and we will move in this direction.
In Capricorn, Pluto brought to our attention the corruption, greed, and perverse effects of top-down systems and structures. With Pluto in Aquarius, change happens through groups of citizens working together to change the role and goals of our social, economic, and political institutions.
The Aquarius Archetype
Aquarius is a collective sign – the sign of friends, communities, and society as a whole. Aquarius is more open minded and inclusive than Capricorn.
The Aquarius archetype is about innovation, technology, the internet, and networks of people and data. Pluto in Aquarius intensely scrutinizes the role technology and AI (artificial intelligence) in our society. Corruption will be exposed. Socially beneficial technologies will continue to be created and transform every aspect of our lives.
At a personal level, Pluto in Aquarius asks for a total transformation in the house in our natal chart with Aquarius on the cusp and planets in Aquarius. Pluto transits are often difficult because Pluto insists that we “deal” with what we have not wanted to see. Pluto transits are a call for total honesty and authenticity.
A sense of dissatisfaction initially accompanies Pluto activations because Pluto always pushes us to go deeper and to get more honest. The good news is that the more we let go of old baggage, the freer we feel and the more authentic we become.
January 20 – The Sun Entered Aquarius
The Aquarius season begins with the good news that for the first time in years, the constant pressure of Saturn in Aquarius square Uranus in Taurus is over.
January 21 – New Moon In Aquarius
The New Moon at 1° Aquarius is an auspicious new “Aquarius” beginning. Within one degree of Pluto (in Capricorn just before it enters Aquarius), the New Moon announced the upcoming 20-year long Pluto in Aquarius transit.
Supportive interaction with Jupiter and Mars, bring opportunities to pursue our dreams and to collaborate with like-minded people.
January 22 – Uranus Went Direct (14º Taurus)
Uranus, the modern ruler of Aquarius, went direct at 14º Taurus, ending its yearly five month retrograde period, which began on August 24, 2022 at 18º Taurus.
Again, the good news is that for the first time in years Uranus is no longer in a confrontive square with Saturn. Now the Sun, Venus, and Saturn in Aquarius offer us a tremendous forward momentum in the Aquarius area of our birth chart.
Things will start to move that may appear to have been stuck for years. Maybe we were getting ready for this special time. Sometimes we forget that serious preparation takes a lot of work and a lot of time.
January 22 to April 21 – All Planets Direct
January 22 to April 21, no planets are retrograde. We have a three-month window where manifestation can occur more rapidly because all the planets are in direct motion. But we must stay focused, grounded, and purposely direct our actions to get the best results.
On the average, 92% of the time at least one planet is retrograde. At the most, all planets direct only happens once a year, but some years there are no days without at least one planet retrograde. The next all direct period will be January 2 to April 2, 2024.
The Aquarian/Leo Revolution
Aquarius is the archetype of radical transformation and revolution. The most profound revolution takes places in one’s consciousness. To create the outer changes in our lives and in our global community, the citizens that comprise society must change from the inside. We must wake up to how we have created the current world by getting in touch with the fear, greed, and shame based beliefs that have controlled our minds and directed our actions. The Aquarius polarity Leo tells us a shift can happen only in heart-centered consciousness, where we experience our oneness with the infinite and realize that everyone has value and comes from the same source.
Leo teaches us that we are each on our own unique spiritual journey. Aquarius teaches that we are all traveling together. Aquarius is the eleventh sign in the cycle of twelve archetypes. Through the synthesis of our life experiences and the lessons that we have learned, we establish our identity and reach a sense of individual maturity.
Aquarius also represents the development of group consciousness and unity in diversity (not in uniformity). We know ourselves as an individual, who is an integral part of the human race.
Aquarius is the archetype of the rebel, reformer, innovator, inventor, and humanitarian. Aquarius thrives in community and gives birth to grassroots movements that create a force for change by joining skills and talents to work toward common goals. The collective power is unleashed through the synergy of our individual contributions.
The unawakened Aquarius often feels like a black sheep, misfit, or weird. The growing up pains of Aquarius evolve from feeling ostracized to realizing that not fitting into a wounded family and crazy culture is an indication that our life purpose is not to maintain the status quo ‘myth if normal’, but to help humanity advance. Aquarian energy supports those who feel isolated and unappreciated find others who share the same values and commitment a create a better world. The more we are able to be authentic with ourselves, the easier it is to link up with our community.
Three Conjunctions and a New Beginning
Three conjunctions in January — (1) Venus conjunct Saturn in Aquarius, (2) Juno conjunct Jupiter in Aries, and (3) Vesta conjunct Neptune in Pisces — also support forging new and deeper relationships with our friends, partners, and communities. Conjunctions mark the end of one cycle and the beginning of another period in our lives. The two conjunctions involving the asteroids, or mini planets, help us better understand our personal path.
January 22 – Saturn Conjunct Venus in Aquarius (24º Aquarius)
The yearly conjunction of Saturn with Venus (this time in Aquarius) initiates a new cycle in doing what we love, while being attentive to carefully defining our limits, boundaries, and goals. Saturn reminds us to be realistic and responsible. Venus reminds us to listen to our heart in order to tune into what we really want to do with our lives. What do you really want to commit to?
January 22 – Juno Conjunct Jupiter (4º Aries)
Juno and Jupiter rendezvous approximately every 6 to 7 years. The asteroid Juno represents the quest for true and harmonious partnership, which requires the integration within ourselves of both our inner feminine and masculine polarities. Conjunct in Aries, Juno and Jupiter start a new cycle where we identify and release old assumptions that prevented individual expression, authenticity, and honesty in our relationships. When we correct what is out of balance, we can each stand in, and interact from, our own truth, our heart.
January 23 – Vesta Conjunct Neptune (23º Pisces)
Vesta, the brightest asteroid and the keeper of the altar flame, reminds us of the importance of tending to our own light, which reveals and keeps us committed to our life purpose. Neptune and Vesta are both associated with our spiritual essence. Neptune represents the transpersonal dimensions of reality. Vesta symbolizes the importance of keeping the flame of Spirit within alive for ourselves and others.
Vesta and Neptune start a new cycle about every 3.5 years, reminding us again of the importance of remembering our divine connection, rekindling our inner light, and how our unique light is our gift to the world. Vesta is also related to awakening our Kundalini.
January 21 – Chinese New Year of the Yin Water Rabbit
Each Chinese New Year begins at the Aquarian new moon. We are now in the Year of the Yin Water Rabbit. Chinese astrology divides its 12 signs by year, rather than by month. Its zodiac is represented by 12 different animals, each of which have yin and yang expression of the five elements (Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood).
The Rabbit is associated with the Moon, gentleness, and harmony, symbolizing a year of rest, relaxation, and reflection. For many this is a much needed time to recuperate from the dynamic and intense Year of the Yang Water Tiger. The Water element expresses the emotions and helps us cleanse and nourish our physical and emotional bodies, healing old wounds, and giving priority to taking care of ourselves. Sounds like a good idea! Keeping actively engaged without stress or worry is the winning formula.
Enter the Aquarian Age
We definitely need to keep our focus attuned to the present unfolding moment — NOW. At the same we need to stay aware of the fact that a bigger story is unfolding. For eons, humans have been controlled by fear and shame and conditioned to believe that we are unworthy and powerless, and that something besides ourselves can and must save us. The Aquarian Age is about waking up to the reality that we can and must save ourselves. Individually and collectively we must activate our innate abilities to create solutions together.
This is an auspicious time to sign up for the February 5 workshop – The CORE Magic of Kundalini Yoga.
