Capricorn Full Moon – Heartfelt Commitment

There are two Capricorn full moons this year, which is both rare and significant. The first one was on June 21 at 1° Capricorn and Cancer. The second was July 21 at 3:17 am PDT at 29°, the very last degree of Capricorn. The last degree of a sign is particularly impactful because it represents accumulated experience, expertise, completion, and a desire to move on.

The second full moon at 29° Capricorn is both a culmination and a new beginning. New beginnings are usually associated with new moons and the conjunction of two (or more) planets. But this Capricorn full moon has some very unique features.

  1. The Sun and Moon both quickly change signs, introducing a new vibration and energy.
Less than an hour later, the Moon moves into Aquarius.
Less than a day later, the Sun moves out of Cancer into Leo, the polarity pair of Aquarius.
  2. Capricorn at 29° indicates the end of a zodiac phase.
  3. The Capricorn full moon is conjunct Pluto at 0° Aquarius, which initiates the beginning of a new zodiac period.
  4. This full moon is in a favorable sextile relationship with Neptune at 29° Pisces, again the last degree of a sign, signifying a completion. With both Saturn and Neptune retrograde in Pisces we have made progress on our spiritual journey that can carry us forward. (Take some time to acknowledge your progress).
  5. The Full Moon is in a favorable trine to Mars at 0° Gemini, again the beginning of a new energy and approach to life.

The End and a New Beginning

Basically we are at the end of one evolutionary cycle and the beginning of a new one. We have completed a phase of our lives and we are being catapulted into a new phase. For most of us this does not come as a surprise. We have encountered rumblings, including things not working as before, a sense of dissatisfaction, a desire to do things differently, and ideas on how to do so.

We can experience a variety of emotions including

  1. Negativity –  ‘I am not going to do that anymore’.
  2. Passion – a passion to follow our dreams,
  3. Creativity – a welling up of ideas inspired by our heart, and
  4. Resolve – a determination to switch gears, upgrade, and move on.

There is a lot of encouraging signs and positive potential in the air.

  1. The old may be familiar, but it is also boring because it has run its course.
  2. We feel a sense of urgency to complete the past so we can venture forward.
  3. We feel ready and eager to explore and experience something new.
  4. We take our experience, expertise, and what we have learned, with us.
  5. We feel prepared and have a sense of confidence.

With this gamut of thoughts and emotions, a small tweak can create everything from a smooth transition to an avalanche of change.

From an expanded perspective, this full moon is another sign that we are going through a sacred passage from the past to the future. As we leave the old Capricorn structures, we embark on a journey to learn how to navigate and create in an Aquarian world.

(Pluto now retrograde at 0° Aquarius will make its last pass through Capricorn (September 3 – November 19). Starting November 20, Pluto will be in Aquarius for the next 20 years.)

Each one of us in some way are breaking free from old patterns, mindsets, traditions, and models, making it possible to embrace innovative change, We feel free to listen to and follow our heart. We are driven to explore the unknown. What once seemed intimidating, is now exciting. ‘Why not?’, we ask. ‘We only live once.’ This is our chance. We have the courage and the desire to breakthrough and liberate ourselves from past programming, stories, and conditioning that have kept us stuck in ‘the same old thing.’

Full 100%  Commitment

The cosmos is always engaged in evolutionary cycles, which may appear like repetition of the same themes. This time something is different. There is no tentative ‘maybe, maybe not’. There is no wavering. We know what we want, and we ready to go for it. We fully commit. The door to the past is closed and we don’t look back for a possible exit strategy ‘just in case’.

When we are fully in, 100% committed, something magical happens. Our internal stance evokes alignment with the Universe. Our lives can be miraculously transformed. This is the potential awaiting all of us as the passage from the 29th degree of Capricorn to 0° Aquarius happens.

The primal nature of both Capricorn and Pluto is commitment. Because this Capricorn full moon is conjunct Pluto, we engage from the core of our being. When we are all in, we don’t even think about an escape route to return to what was comfortable. We embark on a new journey to expand our way of both being and doing.

In Retrospect and What Is Different Now

It is useful to look back and identify times in our lives when we believed we were committed to something. But in hindsight, we were not really committed. Maybe we didn’t actually know what we wanted, but felt pressured to set some goals. Maybe we felt obligated to look like we knew what we were doing. But the heart-felt drive was missing. Life’s journey is filled with doubts, experiments, and lessons. We have to go through a lot before we know what we really want and are ready to go for it.

Now is a time when a true heartfelt commitment is both possible and supported. Venus in Leo helps us connect with our heart and give value and priority to what truly matters to us. The Sun opens our heart as it moves into Leo less than 24 hours after the full moon, July 22 at 00:44 (PDT) – utc-7.

The dramatic shift in energy will impact us in profound ways, most importantly shifting our attitude towards ourselves and our lives. A shift in perspective helps us tune into what is possible. We may or may not embark on a big project. But the next phase in our lives can bring us more happiness and freedom, which seemed to be lacking in the past years.. We are willing to explore and enjoy a sense of adventure. The Universe is telling us that doors are opening to new possibilities.

From Capricorn to Aquarius

This full moon has the potential to deliver us to another way of both being and doing. There is an intensity with the Moon tightly conjunct Pluto in the next sign – Aquarius. We can feel pressurized to transform from the inside out. This is because we have to be open and willing to manifest in harmony with Aquarian energy. And we have actually do things differently to have a genuine breakthrough. A profound paradigm shift requires inner being and outer doing to shift together. Our new found clarity about what we want makes it possible to take committed action.

Fortunately, Mars at 0° Gemini gives us the determination to make new choices in how we use our time and energy. Mars at 0° gives us a fresh, beginner mindset. Gemini gives us the flexibility to approach things in new and playful ways.

Collective Activation

Globally this is an important full moon because it activates some pivotal points for our collective journey. Pluto, Saturn, and Jupiter were at 29° Capricorn in 2020 during the pandemic, marking a significant moment of societal upheaval and call for deep soul searching and structural transformation.

0° Aquarius is where a new 20-year Jupiter-Saturn cycle started on December 21, 2020. Pluto is now at this very same degree, still pressurizing us to change our collective agenda. There is a deep sense of urgency – now or never.

Commit To What Really Matters

A full moon that connects two zodiac signs is potentially historically significant. It is time to commit to what really matters, to what can radically change our future. Our basic commitment is to to ourselves and how we choose to live our lives. This can involve committing to a new attitude of self-acceptance and self-care. It can involve committing to a relationship, a career, or a project that has the potential to not only change our lives, but the lives of many others and to leave a legacy for future generations.

What are you committing to?

Exercise – Tell Yourself Something Else

We all have some kind of negative self-talk that is self-sabotaging. Listen to what you are telling yourself and identify one or more reactive thoughts that you would like to eliminate. Each time you catch yourself thinking one of these self-deprecating thoughts, repeat ‘Cancel. Erase. Delete.’ Make this into a habit.

At some point you will feel ready to substitute another thought. For example, ‘You are an idiot. That was stupid’ can be replaced by ‘I am doing the best I can.’

You can also stop a negative thought by saying Sat Nam.

To support this habit changing process practice Seven Wave ‘Sat Nam’ Meditation
(Can be found on page 142 in Relax and Renew, 2nd Edition).

Sit in Easy Pose, palms together in Prayer Mudra, with the eyes closed and focused at the brow point. Inhale deeply, and on the exhale, chant the mantra in 7 segments.

On each wave, thread the sound through the chakras beginning at the base of the spine in the rectum. On NAM, let the energy and sound radiate from the seventh chakra at the top of the head through the aura. As the sound penetrates each chakra, gently pull the physical area it corresponds to. The first is at the rectum, the second at the sex organ, the third at the navel, the fourth at the heart, the fifth at the throat, and the sixth is between the eyebrows.

Vibrate SAAA AAA AAA AAA AAA AAAT in six waves

And let NAAM be the seventh.

Continue for 15 minutes.

Chanting the long Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat uses the sound current to clear the subconscious imprints in the chakras. Practice for 5-11 minutes (or more if you wish) for 40 days.

To clear a negative thought, chant one or more waves of the long Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat Nam. This is especially useful to cancel and delete obsessive negative thoughts.

Feel free to devise your own routine using ‘Cancel, erase, delete’ and the cleansing vibration of Sat Nam. Say Sat Nam anytime to affirm your true soul identity.

What does our soul want?

Negative thoughts don’t help either our human ego or our soul. Our limited human ego wants to be validated, to be right, and to feel OK. Our soul is not concerned with being right or ‘perfect.’ Our soul wants our human self to experience that its essence is love and for us to live our lives from that realization. When we say or chant Sat Nam, we are affirming the truth of our soul’s essence.

Never underestimate the power and importance of your contribution to the collective. Clearing the way in your own mind and body, contributes to clearing the path for everyone in the world.
