2024 – An Amazing Year!
2024 could be the most transformational and captivating year of our lives. The energies available make it possible to walk through doors we never even dreamed of before. We can open and glide through the door of our higher consciousness!
So much is going on that is altering the fabric of our reality. We are already experiencing the effects of major planetary shifts. Below I examine how significant planetary movements are creating a new context for living our personal and collective lives.
The question is not ‘What is going to happen?’ But ‘What is the nature of the new reality? How can I align with the new energetic matrix? How am I going to do my part in creating the future?’
Transformation at All Levels
- A New Year – The Chinese Year of the Dragon is a very enriching year for our spiritual growth. The Dragon energy creates an opening to awaken our Kundalini, the divine spark of our soul.
According to Chinese astrology, the year of the Yang Wood Dragon 2024 is full of potential and opportunities for personal growth, worldly success, innovation, and social change. This is an auspicious year for all of us to tap into our inner power, creative potential, and self-awareness. We can use the Dragon energy to access our own wisdom, strength, I AM consciousness, and good luck. - A New World – January 21 Pluto moved into Aquarius for the next 20 years. The world will never be the same, and neither will you nor me.
- New Energy – Numerically, 2024 adds up to an eight year, which corresponds to the pranic body (energy activation through the breath), limitless energy, prosperity, and merging our human being with our divine essence.
- A New Story – Using all of the above influences, we are supported in reframing our life story. We do so by listening to and following our heart and identifying what is true for us.
We are being transformed by the new energies that are opening up many new possibilities. We are at a turning point that requires (and makes possible) an inner shift in how we relate to ourselves, each other, and human life, and how we participate in the world.
The Year of the Yang Wood Dragon
The Dragon, a luckiest creature in Chinese astrology, symbolizes charisma, confidence, bravery, and creativity. Dragons are known to be ambitious, fearless, self-confident, adventurous, and independent. They do not hesitate in pursuing their dreams and goals. No wonder the Dragon captures our attention. Its qualities sound like the perfect formula for self-empowerment.
The Chinese Zodiac
The Chinese zodiac progresses though twelve animals, each associated with the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water and their yin and yang expressions. Each configuration gives the person born in that year a different personality, style, and path. Each year offers a unique set of energies and lessons to support and teach us about ourselves and life.
The Fire Dragon (1916, 1976) has abundant energy, radiates enthusiasm, and is passionate and charismatic.
The Earth Dragon (1928, 1988) is stable, reliable, practical, disciplined, and works hard to achieve its goals.
The Metal Dragon (1940, 2000) is refined and elegant and operates in life with grace and ease.
The Water Dragon (1952, 2012) is flexible and adapts easily to different situations. It is resourceful, creative, and intuitive. Its versatility helps it feel comfortable in many situations.
The Wood Dragon (1964, 2024) is known to be creative, visionary, optimistic, ambitious and adventurous. It likes to explore new ideas and challenge itself. It is also generous, compassionate, and a loyal friend.
This Year of the Wood Dragon is a yang year, which favors growth, creativity, manifestation, innovation, and action. Wood is associated with spring and thus represents new beginnings and original thinking. 2024 is thus a great year to start new projects, be adventurous, explore new opportunities, expand our horizons, and pursue our dreams.
The Dragon invites us to spice up our life with fun, love, and excitement. Try new activities, make new friends, travel to new places, and think out of the box.
Our Kundalini Fire
The Dragon is generally associated with the element of fire. Fire is the source of our personal power, passion, and inner magic. It is important to keep in mind that each of us experiences our passion and power in our own unique way. Those with lots of fire in their energy blueprint (as revealed in their birth chart) are usually more outwardly dynamic and dramatic in their personal expression. Those whose nature is defined more by water and earth may have more subtle expressions. Air signs can get super-charged by ideas and lost in thought.

Aquarius announces a new chapter in our lives. We are being offered a unique opportunity to transform how we perceive and engage in the world. Thinking out of the box is the norm for Aquarius. Aquarius energy facilitates connecting with like-minded souls. The coherency and power of our ideas increase exponentially as we unite and synergize in group consciousness.

With so many planets in Aquarius, we may experience surprises, magic, and miracles. Aquarius and its ruler Uranus precipitate sudden shifts that help us wake up and break free from the past, honor our own truth, and become more authentically ourselves. One of the cosmic intentions of uninvited surprises is to bring healing to the parts of ourselves that have felt ostracized and conformed or hid in order to ‘fit in’ and ‘feel safe.’
February 9 – Aquarius New Moon and Year of the Dragon
The urge to break free from the past and subconscious conditioning is very strong. Pluto helps us identify what is preventing us from finding inner freedom and being open to deep change.
February 13-14 – Mars enters Aquarius and Conjuncts Pluto.
Mars represents our personal will, and how we affirm and support ourselves in order to get our needs met.
Every two years, Mars joins Pluto for an inner reality check-in concerning
- our motivations,
- how we handle conflict,
- where and why we engage in power struggles, and
- how anger covers up fear.
Pluto requires penetrating honesty in order to identify the real issues and make lasting changes.
Pluto will push our sensitive Mars buttons. The extent to which we will be triggered and react with anger or defensively will depend upon our ability to be honest with ourselves, to accept reality, and to not take everything others do and say personally. The more we are able to stay in the flow of our life and align ourselves with circumstances as they present themselves, the happier we will be.
February 17 – Venus Enters Aquarius and Conjuncts Pluto
Our Venus issues, which are concerned with giving and receiving love, attention, and feeling worthy, will surface, as will our desire for friendship and collaboration on shared goals. We feel validated when we are part of something bigger than ourselves. The more resistant to and disconnected from what is happening in and around us, the more we will suffer and create suffering in our relationships.
February 21 – Venus and Mars Join Together at 7°
Aquarius is the unconventional sign. To love from the Aquarian perspective, we have to appreciate our individuality and diversity, and enjoy what makes us each unique. Mars and Venus join to reveal our personal preferences and the contribution we wish to offer to our community.
Pluto Moved from Capricorn to Aquarius
In the last blog, we opened the discussion concerning the effects of Pluto moving from Capricorn into Aquarius for the next 20 years (until 2044).
Pluto illuminates the truth about what is going on behind the scenes (and actually in front of our eyes.) Pluto in Capricorn exposed how power and self-interest has corrupted our collective institutions. Pluto’s transparency helps us get clarity so we can identify the elephants in the room, and see how we are participating by our compliance, apathy, or naïve choices.
While Pluto was in Capricorn, a major focus was on economic and political power struggles. Much has been revealed about who actually controls our collective institutions, common resources, wealth, and makes the decisions that determine the degree of equity, justice, and the quality of everyone’s lives. We have become painfully aware of the effects of the skewed distribution of power and wealth.
Pluto in Aquarius
Pluto in Aquarius has a different agenda. Pluto in Aquarius wants to find innovative solutions to our collective and personal challenges and power struggles. At the individual level, the Aquarian impulse is driven to seek freedom, independence, and autonomy. At the collective level, Pluto opens our eyes to where our institutions can support equity and justice, and empowerment for all. To move in this direction, conflict and power struggles have to give way to creativity, compassion, and cooperation.
Aquarius speaks for social causes and our hopes and dreams for a better world. At this time we have ideals and ideas of where we would like to go. But the future is not decided yet. It is to be written by planetary citizens. This includes every one of us.
Aquarius speaks for humanity and reminds us that we are in this together. Aquarius knows that there is a better way, if we are willing to work together to find it and proceed with creation and implementation. To do so we have to transcend our conflictual ‘good vs bad,’ ‘us vs them’ mindset, which can justify anything. We must identify our motivations. Are we driven by our common humanity, or do we want to be right and make others wrong? Real change requires respect and compassion for our shared humanity.
Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus
Jupiter stays in a sign for just over a year. Jupiter has been in Taurus since May 17, 2023. Jupiter will move into Gemini May 25. The important thing for us now is to use the Taurus earth energy to connect with feel good awareness in our bodies. Jupiter is about learning. In Taurus we are learning how to take care of our physical bodies and our environment.
The fact that we are making ourselves sick with the food we eat is finally getting our attention. We can blame the food industry for giving priority to profits over health, but we are the ones who choose what we put in our mouths. We are the ones that opt to sit in front of the screen instead of taking a walk, exercising, or doing yoga. The Aquarian context tells us to take responsibly for our lives and to work together to change our collective institutions to be supportive of our human needs.
With both Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, we can feel our body and what it wants more than ever before. This complements Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus. We have abundant energy if we use it appropriately and wisely and don’t waste it in self-induced stress. To access the energy we need to fully live our lives, we must train ourselves to relax, lighten up, and be at peace with what arises.
