A Global Reset
On planet Earth, a foundational balance has been disturbed to the extent that dramatic shifts need to take place to restore a workable equilibrium. Chaos and serious disruption are part of the ‘reset’ process. For each of us personally this is not a time to say ‘whatever’ and hope things work out. It is also not a time to be thrown off our center by all the disturbing news. This is a time to tune into and benefit from the changing energies. We must be honest (about what is true and was never true), let go of old patterns, and listen to and follow our hearts.
In this blog we discuss the major planetary players and their interactions that stimulate change and are creating the energetic context for a ‘new era.’ They include the following:
Summary of Planetary Activations
[1] Outer Planets
The outer planets set the tone for the whole planet. When the outer planets change signs, the collective tone changes. In only one and one half years all 3 outer planets enter new signs.
- November 20, 2024 Pluto entered Aquarius for 20 years.
- March 31, 2025 Neptune enters Aries for 13 years.
- July 8, 2025 Uranus moves from Taurus to Gemini for 6 years.
[2] Other Collective Influencers
The collective tone is also influenced by the change of signs of the Lunar Nodes, Saturn and Jupiter (referred to as the social planets.)
- January 13 the North Node moved out of Aries into Pisces for a year and a half.
- May 26 Saturn leaves Pisces and enters Aries for 2 1/2 years.(Another big day!)
- Saturn and Neptune will be collaborating in Aries.(more in a future blog)
- June 10 Jupiter moves from Gemini to Cancer for 13 months.
- 2 sets of solar and lunar eclipses this year precipitate change.
[3] The Activity and Retrogrades of the Personal Planets (Mercury, Venus, and Mars) and Their Interaction with the Outer Planets and Other Influencers
Venus and Mercury are both retrograde during March and April.
Below we discuss how the above (and more) portend the most profound transformation this life time.
March 30 – Neptune Enters Aries – A Big Day!
The biggest event is Neptune entering Aries on March 30. This is a big day! Neptune leaves Pisces (its home sign) and moves into the uncharted territory of Aries. This shift ignites deep and lasting transformation. Neptune changes signs only every 14 years. 2025 is the year! This shift is significant because it resets the energetic vibration in a major way. Zero degrees Aries is the very beginning of the Zodiac. And for Neptune it initiates a new 365 year cycle. Things are about to morph in major, unprecedented, and unexpected ways. (more below)
The North Node in Pisces – Destiny Calls
The zodiac sign of the North Node directs us into the future. The Lunar nodes remain in the Pisces/Virgo axis through July 2026. (See two previous blogs for details). Pisces energy is elusive, but it also irresistibly pulls us toward the unknown, the mystical nonphysical realms. We can be seduced by illusions, drugs, and additions that temporarily transport us to altered states of consciousness. But our real longing is to connect with our soul and for an authentic experience of the Divine.
Our human longing is to find and live our life purpose – to do what we are here to do to serve Love. Pisces represents the magnetic force that pulls us toward our divine humanness, to live beyond the ordinary stressful demands of survival, to bring heaven to Earth.
Shifting Sands between Pisces and Aries
The shift from the last sign of the zodiac (Pisces) to the first (Aries) is often the most dramatic, consequential, and challenging. This is a major theme during the first part of the year. This is the moment to pay attention to the shifting energies and how they impact how we feel, what we think, how we react, and to listen to what our soul is communicating to us.
Our divine human challenge is to not be controlled by fear, limiting beliefs, and social expectations that prevent us from remembering who we are. Both Aries and Pisces help us be true to our soul self, which never stops speaking to us and sending us signs. But our soul communicates in subtle ways. We have to pay attention, to listen without judging, to feel instead of think. We can’t explain, but we know.\
The problem is that we doubt and question our intuitive guidance, which arises not from our rational mind but from a deep inner knowing that cannot be logically explained. We know what we know! We must learn to trust our soul, because it is encoded with our vision of what is possible and our destiny path.
Both Venus and Mercury enter retrograde periods, during which they move between Aries and Pisces. Venus and Mercury (and Mars) are the personal planets whose movements impact how we feel, think, and act. We may experience that we are in an ocean of fluctuating moods, emotions, and thoughts. One moment we know what we want (Aries). Another moment we have doubts and can’t make up our mind (Pisces). Aries is fiery, action-oriented, and impulsive. Pisces is more relaxed and dreamy. They are working together to prepare us to operate in a new reality.
During this time it is important to not be concerned if specific answers allude us. We need closure first and, as the Year of the Snake tells us, to shed our old skin. And we need the willingness to move on, even when we don’t have clarity on our path forward. Pisces is not only the end of a cycle, it is our inner divine foundation for a new beginning.
March 2 – Venus Went Retrograde at 10° Aries.
Venus is retrograde for 40 days, until April 13. We have 40 days to take an inward journey to confront our fears, to find our passion, and to reclaim the light of our soul. In most traditions 40 days is a sacred time, during which we undergo an inner metamorphosis. It takes 40 days to fulfill a goal, but only after a period of trials and tests, which require us to let go of what no longer serves us and to connect with what really matters to us. As we connect with our heart and re-evaluate our lives, we often shift priorities and make major life changes to align with our dreams and vision of the future.
Venus goes retrograde every 2 years. Every 8 years Venus returns within 1 degree to the same zodiac sign, activating the same area of our natal chart, and bringing up familiar themes. The arena of our chart that is being impacted lies between 24° Pisces and 10° Aries.
Venus in Aries and Pisces
This Venus retrograde is special because Venus retrogrades back into Pisces. As Venus retrogrades, it reactivates important planetary interactions with the North Node, Neptune, and Saturn, preparing us for a new cycle of life. We get a second chance to go deeper into what is holding us back and to let go so we are free to move forward.
The movement between the early degrees of Aries and last degrees of Pisces is a critical time of transition. Late Pisces asks us to trust the divine plan for our lives as we venture into unexplored territory. Stepping out of our past story, we are free to move into the future. Surrender and cultivating an unattached inner space (neutral mind) make it possible to manifest differently in a new outer reality.
Venus retrograde will shift our priorities and open our hearts to something new. When we listen to our heart, we can make decisions based on what matters most to us.
As Venus retrograde in Pisces re-conjuncts with Neptune, the North Node, and Saturn, we may awaken to a dream that we have either lost or dismissed as wishful thinking. We stop making excuses and rekindle our desire to do something special this lifetime. Venus asks us to be patient because manifesting our dreams is a lifetime endeavor, which requires an evolutionary process of inner growth and maturity.
Venus ends her retrograde journey with her conjunction in Pisces with Saturn. We commit to taking our dream seriously. With Saturn’s support, Venus realizes that we can realize our desires to be authentically our unique self and do what our soul is here to do; that is if we commit to following our heart and engage in both the inner and outer work that is required.
Venus in Aries is bold and independent, and finds its roots in its deep commitment to embody the truth of our soul. You can follow your own inner journey by paying attention to the following dates.
Key Dates in the Venus Retrograde Cycle
- March 2 – Venus goes retrograde at 10° Aries
- March 23 – Venus conjunct Sun at 2° Aries – Venus in the heart of the Sun, transforms from an evening star to a morning star.
- March 27 – Venus retrogrades back to Pisces.
- March 28 – Venus conjunct Neptune at 29° Pisces
- April 1 – Venus conjunct North Node at 27° Pisces
- April 7 – Venus conjunct Saturn at 25° Pisces
- April 13 – Venus goes direct at 24° Pisces
- May 1 – Venus re-enters Aries, where it stays through June 6.
Venus Retrograde is the Heroine’s Journey
We are all familiar with the hero’s journey, which is (for both men and women) the male Mars aspect of our empowerment. The hero’s journey is about confronting our fears in the process of taking action in our outer reality. We overcome our fears by ‘slaying the dragon’, or bravely standing tall when we are challenged by external events and authorities. Of course, we gain inner power in doing so.
Venus retrograde is about (for both men and women) our inner (feminine) journey to the underworld of our subconscious fears. We are not pitted against external enemies. We confront our shadow side, which is not to be interpreted as being what is the matter with us. Our shadow side is what has yet to be awakened, so we can tap into our unique gifts and express ourselves from the courage and conviction of our heart.
Our descent into our dark underworld is about
- transforming our dark unexplored energies into light,
- reclaiming our innate powers by loving what needs love to transform,
- waking up to what has been repressed and misunderstood, and
- compassion for our humanness.
When Venus disappears in the evening sky, it asks us to release what controls us and keeps us from being ‘free to be me.’ Something must die for us to be reborn.
The heroine’s journey is not about conquering the outside world. It is about connecting with and loving the parts of ourselves that have been hidden and suppressed. As we
- compassionately embrace our suppressed feelings,
- honor the desires of our soul, and
- open our heart to the complexity and mystery of the human expression of our soul, where we find the Venus feminine power formula — self-love, self-acceptance, and self-knowing.
Venus reminds us to be kind and gentle with ourselves. It is easier to let go when we realize that we are a human embodiment of a unique soul, and that the stories we tell ourselves are not true. They are fabrications based on external and imposed conditioning and attempts to control, demean, and even humiliate us.
Our current transition does not have to be overwhelming. It can be deep, meaningful, and full of Love. With deep reflection and inner activation of our power to love, we can overcome self-doubt, self-criticism, and self-sabotage. We can connect with and live in gratitude for what matters the most to us — ourselves and our sacred journey this lifetime. And it is easier to meet, resolve, and learn from our life challenges when we are gentle and kind to ourselves.
Venus Retrograde Asks Us ‘What If?”
Venus is sensitive, subtle, and sensuous. The Venus archetype is about identifying and being directed by what gives us pleasure, enjoyment, and relaxation. It is about finding what motivates us, and our attitude that make it possible to live from Love and not from fear, and from compassion and not from defensive aggression.
Venus retrograde is a sacred time because it awakens us to explore what we often miss when we are immersed in the patriarchal male-dominated system.
What if our ultimate destiny path is not about what we DO, but HOW we do what we do? What if why we are here is to enjoy being alive and to discover and express our unique expression of the divine? What if we are here to embody and share Love, as we engage in the co-creative process of manifestation in physical reality?
Aries is Both an Inner and Outer Warrior
Aries represents our instinctual knowledge of who we are. Awakened Aries is attuned to the heart without excuses or masks. Venus in Aries supports us in finding and expressing our honest, unapologetic, and fearless Self. Every year we move through all the zodiac signs to awaken to who we are. We build our inner foundation. The longing of our heart does not drift into fantasies. It takes us deeper to consolidate our inner foundation from which to live the miracle of our own being. Our heart becomes our compass to lead the way.
March 3 – Mercury Entered Aries
Mercury in Pisces is intuitive, emotional, and subtle. Our mind may be dreaming and our communication indirect. Mercury in Aries is impulsive, bold, and straight forward. Our mind is sharper. Our communication is more direct, and we make decisions faster. Pisces is deep and expansive. Pisces stops to reflect. Aries is lively, motivated, and doesn’t hesitate to take action.
March 15 – Mercury Goes Retrograde at 9° Aries
Mercury is retrograde for 3 weeks through April 6. The fact that Venus went retrograde at 10° Aries March 2 is significant. The two personal planets are activating and retracing the same degrees and signs of the zodiac. The following dates are markers to direct your attention and to address what comes up for you.
- March 28 – Mercury retrogrades back to Pisces.
- April 7 – Mercury goes direct at 26° Pisces.
- April 17 – Mercury moves in Aries through May 10.
Both Venus and Mercury are retrograde from March 15 – April 6.
March 14 – Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse at 23° Virgo
We start feeling the effects of the bi-annual lunar and solar eclipses weeks before their exact dates.
Total eclipses are especially intense. We are bound to feel their effects. This is a South Node eclipse, meaning that we are dealing with past issues that must be resolved to move forward into the new territory of the North Node (currently Pisces.) This eclipse is opposite Saturn in Pisces (22° Pisces) and trine Uranus at 24° Taurus. These close aspects with Saturn and Uranus portend systemic change. There is no going back to the way things were. With Uranus there is disruption of something that needs to change. We can no longer hide from the elephant in the room, and we are relieved to find that we are no longer caged into an unworkable past game.
We may not be totally aware of the impact of the eclipse. We may not immediately identify the deep nature of the shift or know how to deal with it. Mercury retrograde gives us time to tune in and reflect. Remember, shedding our old skin is a major theme during this Year of the Snake.
March 12 – Sun Conjunct Saturn at 20° Pisces
There is more planetary activity! The following conjunctions with the Sun in Pisces continue to prepare is for a new beginning in Aries.
The Sun and Saturn meet once a year for a ‘reality check’ appointment. We are given a chance to assess how who we and our purpose are fitting into both what is happening beyond our control and what we can influence. This is our yearly assessment of our personal relationship with reality, i.e. what is going on in the world and our world and how are we interacting with it.
What is our attitude and how are we dealing with what is? How do we understand our role? Do we recognize the impact of our choices? How are we meeting our life challenges. Are we open to welcome new opportunities? Are we willing to adapt to big changes in our lives?
March 17 – The Sun Conjuncts the North Node at 27° Pisces
The Sun and North Node illumine a complementary investigation to the Sun conjunct Saturn. The North Node points us toward the future. Where are we headed? What is our life purpose? In Pisces we identify a deep inner purpose to connect with our soul and our soul identity, which is Love. Whatever our worldly purpose is, are we being directed by our heart?
March 19 – Sun Conjunct Neptune at 29° Pisces
This is a special moment because it is the last Pisces alignment of the Sun, North Node, and Neptune before the Sun and Neptune enter Aries. This is both a personal and collective moment of transition. With the Sun we can feel an awakening and hope. Neptune encourages us to believe in our dreams. The North Node gives us the determination to pursue what we once believed was impossible.
March 20 — The Sun Enters Aries
A new cycle begins. We feel a surge of energy and a sense of optimism. Possibilities now turn into opportunities. Aries presses the reset button.
March 29 – New Moon Eclipse at 9° Aries
With both the Sun and Moon in Aries, we can feel a sense of hope as our inner fire is ignited. Aries, ruled by Mars, must take action to bring into alignment our inner and outer realities. It is this alignment that creates magic and miracles.
March 30 – Neptune Enters Aries
Just one minute before Neptune enters Aries, Neptune meets Mercury retrograde at 29°59′ Pisces. Something may be revealed. There may be new information that we did not expect. We may have an insight that surprises us. We cannot predict what this might be but, combined with the eclipse, something is bound to to get our attention. The impact can be profound. Stay tuned to both personal and collective developments. A new arena in your life is being activated. We are evolving in unprecedented ways. The unfoldment of a new 14 year cycle has begun!
